Ashe County, NC is located in the most northwestern corner of the state, nestled between Virginia and Tennessee in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.

If you’re looking to visit (or live in) Ashe County, you’ll need to know a few things:
- Ashe County is broken into several townships that range in proximation to the different areas of the county.
- West Jefferson serves as the hub of the County, with activities like the Ashe County Cheese Plant and the Christmas in July festival making their home in this town, it’s the place to be if you want to be close to all the goings-ons.
- Jefferson is a beautiful town that borders West Jefferson and is home to several of the county’s favorite sites like our historic Courthouse (and our up-to-date Courthouse and Jail), the hospital and – ehm – Third Day Market, where you can get some of your favorite home decor supplies.
- Crumpler and Grassy Creek serve the end of the county that most closely borders Mouth of Wilson, VA and houses iconic restaurant Shatley Springs.
- Warrensville is the home of the county’s current Middle School and provides a fun area only 10 minutes to West Jefferson and only a few minutes to Lansing and Creston.
- Creston and Lansing are beautiful outskirts to the county that provide fishing, sites like the historic Lansing Creeper Trail Park (which hosts the Ola Belle Reed festival each year) and a quick trip over the state lines to Virginia or Tennessee.
- In between West Jefferson and Watauga County, NC sits Fleetwood, Todd and Deep Gap, all of which provide river activities, amenities and close proximity to all other areas.
- Downtown West Jefferson hosts Art Crawls and the annual Christmas in July festival and other activities to make visiting any time of year special and worth your while.
- Planning a trip to Ashe County in the fall months is sure to provide beautiful views with crisp fall colors in every direction.
