Classic Farmhouse Style:

  • Very simplified style
  • Sturdy, practical furnishing
  • Because of the abundance of natural elements back in the day, lots of wood
  • Deep, apron sinks
  • Vintage decor, fabrics and furniture

Modern Farmhouse Style:

  • A lot of the same elements of classic farmhouse style are found in modern farmhouse style, but they take a more comfortable and relaxed approach
  • There will also typically be more modern touches like, neutral, fresh and open color schemes, stainless steel appliances, smooth lines and granite countertops
  • Less rustic, more sophisticated elements
  • There will be more texture found in modern farmhouse decor – things like a neutral sign or a thick wool blanket
  • Industrial elements – modern lighting fixtures and mid-century modern furniture

Farmhouse decor has been a staple in the decor world for so long and there’s a reason! It doesn’t matter if you like vintage decor, sturdy wood pieces or more modern farmhouse vibes, it’s so easy to make farmhouse style your own!
