We hope you’ve had a fantastic first week of October! It’s really fall, folks. This week, we’re sharing some tips on how to style your front porch for fall to make sure it’s welcoming and functional!
To start, you have to decide the style of your porch. Every porch is a different size and serves a different function – what primary use does your porch have? We’ve got tips for two different porch styles below.
If your porch is a spot where you mainly greet guests, you’ve got a welcoming entryway! You should focus your decor elements on the door because that’s where your guests will focus their attention.
Start with a doormat that you love – it can be seasonal or evergreen, like this one from the shop. Then, if your door is compatible, look for a wreath that you like. Wreaths are not just for winter, folks! From there, add pots of flowers, reeds, cornhusks, mums, or other decor on either side of the door. Make sure they compliment the florals in your wreath!
Together, all of those elements will make your guests feel extra welcome in your home.
If your porch is the place you take your guests to hang out, you’ve got an outdoor gathering space! Start by following the entryway tips to give your door that extra something. Then, focus on the gathering aspect! Much like an interior room in your home, styling a bigger porch revolves around furniture. Start by choosing a color scheme or style that you like, and build your porch from there.
Choose pillows, cushions, an area rug, vases , wreaths and outdoor canvases that all coordinate to give your porch a cohesive vibe. Many of these elements are easy to change with the seasons, so your porch can be festive all year long.
Remember that your main goal is to create a comfortable space. You want people to hang out and share a meal here, so think practically!
