Top 5 Fall Activities

If you’re like me then you have to be intentional about spending time with your family around the holidays or it won’t happen! There always seems to be so many fun fall and Christmas activities to fit in, but I can’t do them all. So here’s a list of the activities that our family just can’t miss; hopefully they’ll give you some ideas too!

1. TDM Pumpkin Patch

Of course, my first fall activity recommendation is our pumpkin patch, not only because I work there, but because it really is a fun environment! Our farms grow a wide variety of pumpkins and guards and our staff can educate you on the best cooking pumpkins vs. the best carving pumpkins. Also, we have a corn pit for the kiddos, photos ops and this year we’ll have the coffee and tea ship open!

2. Pumpkin Decorating

A classic tradition, but another one that my kids love. We’ve done everything from carving to painting and it’s honestly fun any way. I love getting the chance to help my kids be creative and making their pumpkin ideas come to life.

3. Cozy Night In

This may sound simple, but as a mom… sometimes that’s what I need most! My kids love roasting marshmallows, sipping apple cider and munching on snacks around our fire pit. It’s easy on my end, but fun for them and if everyone leaves electronics inside the house, it makes a great evening of bonding enjoying the crisp fall air.

4. Nature Walk

So, I love a good corn maze and hay ride, but if its a beautiful fall day and those activities aren’t readily available, then a nature walk it is! If you make it fun and magical, your family will love the time outdoors, pick out your favorite color of leaves, jump in a pile under a tree, shoot acorns at each other or make up a new song. There are no rules, just time spent outside in the changing leaves!

4. Canoe The New River

Not many people kayak or canoe in the fall, but a local’s secret… its the most magical time to go! Take a jacket and extra clothes for the kids because they will get wet, haha. But it’s a beautiful time to enjoy the river and fall leaves, you can even stop and picnic along the way.
